At Peace of Mind 5280, Inc., we believe in the power of healing, growth, and connection, especially within our rural communities. Our mission is to provide compassionate and effective behavioral health services to individuals of all ages, empowering them to overcome challenges, cultivate resilience, and live fulfilling lives.
Founded in 2024, Peace of Mind 5280, Inc. was born out of a shared passion for helping others navigate life’s complexities with courage and resilience. Our founder, Sara Short, has lived in Elizabeth, Colorado, since 2009, raising her family and experiencing firsthand the unique joys and challenges of rural living.
Sara envisioned a behavioral health practice that would not only provide therapeutic support but also foster a sense of belonging and connection, a place where people from rural areas could find care without judgment or barriers. Her vision became Peace of Mind 5280, Inc: a community-rooted organization dedicated to making high-quality mental health care accessible, personalized, and stigma-free for everyone, no matter where they live.
At Peace of Mind 5280, Inc., we treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Our holistic approach acknowledges the deep connection between emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. We integrate evidence-based therapies with mindfulness and strength-based techniques to create a well-rounded path to healing.
We prioritize the needs and goals of our clients above all else. Our therapists take the time to listen, understand, and collaborate with each individual to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their strengths, challenges, and values.
Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. We’ve created a warm and welcoming space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. Whether you’re seeking therapy for yourself, your adolescent, or your family, you’ll be met with compassion, respect, and empathy.
We believe in empowering our clients to take an active role in their healing journey. Through education, skill-building, and ongoing support, we help individuals make meaningful changes and become the architects of their own well-being.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and we walk beside you every step of the way. Together, we set goals, track progress, and navigate challenges, building a foundation of trust, accountability, and growth.

Throughout our lives, we all face moments of challenge, growth, and transition. In a world that is constantly shifting, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward. Yet even in the hardest seasons, healing and balance are possible. I believe in each person’s innate capacity for change, and that none of us should have to walk that journey alone.
I approach my work from a holistic perspective, honoring the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of well-being. When we address the whole person, we create space for deeper understanding, resilience, and meaningful transformation. Together, we will explore your experiences, identify what’s standing in your way, and build a path toward growth that feels grounded and empowering.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from New York University in 2004 and bring more than twenty years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults. My background includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, psychosis, mood dysregulation, addiction, and complex personality structures. I’ve had the privilege of serving clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings across public and private sectors, experiences that have shaped my understanding of the diverse ways people struggle and heal.
Therapy is a journey we take together. My role is to offer guidance, support, and encouragement as you build the skills, insight, and confidence needed to move toward a more peaceful, connected, and fulfilling life.

With 25 years of experience in the mental health field, I bring a compassionate, holistic, and client-centered approach to the work I do. I am dual-licensed in Colorado as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Candidate (LPCC), and I hold a Master’s in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals, adolescents, and families through a wide range of challenges, including ten years dedicated specifically to helping those affected by alcohol and substance use. I am also experienced in supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health concerns.
Trauma-informed care is at the heart of my practice. I frequently use motivational interviewing to encourage meaningful change, and I draw from Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all of which I’ve utilized effectively for more than a decade. I also incorporate mindfulness-based tools, such as breathing techniques and tapping, to help clients manage PTSD, anxiety, and depression with practical, grounded strategies.
I am especially passionate about group therapy and love creating spaces where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow. Serving rural communities is deeply meaningful to me, and I enjoy giving back through local volunteer opportunities.
Outside of work, I embrace everything Colorado has to offer. You can often find me exploring new hiking trails, enjoying time outdoors, or traveling with my family, especially my grandbabies. Since moving from Oregon in 2020, Colorado has truly become home for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring my experience, compassion, and heart for community to Peace of Mind 5280, Inc.

My goal is to create a safe, intentional space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered as we navigate life’s challenges together and build a path toward healing and renewed well-being.
I take an eclectic, individualized approach to therapy, tailoring my methods to best support your needs. My practice is grounded in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
These tools help me effectively address anxiety, depression, substance use, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in both adolescents and adults.
Outside the therapy room, I recharge by embracing the beauty of Colorado, camping, hiking, kayaking, and soaking up the sunshine whenever I can. I love attending concerts and theater performances, and I’m a dedicated fan of the Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche. Most importantly, I cherish time with my family and my beloved fur-babies.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your journey, I would be honored to walk with you as we work toward a brighter, healthier future together.

Hi! I’m Ginger, a Royal Standard Poodle and the proud office pup here at Peace of Mind 5280, Inc. I take my job very seriously, which mostly means making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcomed, comforted, and a little more at ease.
I’m what humans like to call a Velcro dog, I love my human very much, and I don’t like to let her out of my sight for too long. That’s why you’ll usually find me close by, keeping an eye on things and making sure the office feels warm and friendly.
Greeting clients is my specialty. I’m always happy to offer a little wag, a gentle nuzzle, or even show off a quick trick in exchange for a tasty treat. Once I’ve made sure everyone feels at home, I settle in for a cozy nap while the humans do their work.
I may not be a full therapy dog just yet, but I bring my own kind of comfort and joy to the office, and I love being part of the Peace of Mind family.
